Tips and Tricks for Using Our New Creative Tool for Making Huggie Earrings

We're excited to introduce our new creative tool, designed to help you create beautiful huggie or loop earrings with ease. Here's everything you need to know to get the best results from your new tool.

Base for Huggies Toolkit

Tool Overview

This tool were developed to get the best pleasure from making huggie-earrings with polymer or metal clay. And when you receive your tool, you'll notice that the surface has a slightly fibrous texture.

This texture can sometimes cause the clay hardly to stick to the baking tool surface. So while baking the sides of earrings can stick off the tube and they will not get needed curved shape you want.

But don't worry, we've got a few solutions to help you achieve a smooth surface for the best result.

Tips for Preventing Clay Unsticking

Option 1: Sanding and Buffing

  1. Use 400 and 800 grit sandpaper to sand the tool surface.
  2. Slightly buff it with a hand rotary tool and a felt/wool buffer. This process will smooth the surface, making it easier for the clay to adhere properly. If your clay is slightly sticky, this method will work also perfectly.

Option 2: UV Resin Coating

  1. Apply a single layer of UV resin to the rounded part of the tool.

  2. Sand the resin-coated surface with 600-800 grit sandpaper. Although the UV resin will initially create a glossy surface, which raw clay might stick to too hard (you really don’t want that), a quick sanding will turn the surface matte and smooth, perfect for your earring projects.
